Success is never owned

The other day I blogged about the Fundamental Five.  Today I want to discuss Rory Vaden’s Rent axiom.  He talks about this in his book Take the Stairs too.  It is a fundamental concept that reminds us to never rest on our accomplishments.

Success is never owned, it is only rented, and the rent is due every day.

This simple statement reminds us that success is a task we do every day.  There are no shortcuts to financial success.  There is no quick way to a healthy body or marriage we must work at it everyday.  Rory reminds us that discipline is very important to our growth in any area we want to see growth.

In this book Rory details his quest to win Toastmaster’s International Speaking Championship.  He spoke at any group or club that would have him.  He got into the top ten and worked even harder the next year constantly speaking and working on his speaking abilities.  He made it back to the Championship the next year and invited all his friends and family to see him.  He came in second after all this hard work.

As a Toastmaster I know the work it takes to get to the Championship.  Speak is a documentary that follows the people that make it to this level.  It takes a lot of work and dedication.

Have you paid your rent today?
