Who are your mentors? We encounter people in IT that may be worth learning from. Perhaps some of the people we are learning from may not be technical or in our line of study. As a software developer I have learned a lot from Database Administrators Network Engineers and System Administrators. When you encounter people listen to their words and then watch their actions to see if they line up. Choose your mentors wisely as some people you may first get the impression they are worth emulating but, find out later you are wrong. Understand your strengths and weaknesses and assess it what areas you need help or a mentor in. Mentors can informal as people you may commonly talk with about your career path to more formal mentor programs that pair you up with someone in your organization.
